01. UNIBO

Alma Master Studiorum - Universita di Bologna

Università di Bologna (UNIBO) acts as project Coordinator involving ALMA-AI, an interdepartmental Institute on Human-Centered AI. ALMA-AI collects 27 departments (among which DISI and SPS will run the administrative part of the project) and 400 researchers with interdisciplinary backgrounds ranging from science and technology, to social science and economics, to law and ethics and exposing also strong expertise in AI applications. Prof. Roberta Calegari has a very strong experience in European projects and has deep knowledge of the European AI ecosystem being involved in the main EU initiatives on AI.

02. UMU

Umeå Universitet

Umeå University is with 31500 students and 4300 employees the largest university in the northern half of Sweden. The AI and distributed systems research groups at the Department of Computing Science conducts research on a broad range of topics relating to AI, social simulation, ethical AI, as well as resource management including planning, scheduling, analytics, behaviour modelling, autonomous systems, anomaly detection, decentralized resource management, instrumentation and distributed monitoring of heterogeneous systems, architecture design, and holistic management of complex systems.

03. UCC

University College Cork / National University of Ireland, Cork

University College Cork (www.ucc.ie) was founded in 1845 as one of three Queen’s Colleges located in Belfast, Cork, and Galway. It became University College, Cork, under the Irish Universities Act of 1908. The university was named Irish University of the Year by the Sunday Times in 2003, 2005, 2011, 2016 and 2017. In 2011, the QS World University Rankings ranked the university amongst the top 2% of universities worldwide. The university also received a 5-star rating in the QS University Rankings 2011. Also, in 2011, University College Cork became the first university worldwide to achieve the ISO 50001 standard in energy management. Today the university has over 18,000 students –of which there are over 12,000 undergraduate degree candidates. This student base is supported by over 2,500 staff. The university is one of Ireland's leading research institutes, with the highest research income in the state. The university's international research reputation spans all of its faculties where it offers over 120 degrees and professional programs through seven schools and 27 departments.

Akkodis is the engineering and ICT company of The Adecco Group. Akkodis works in R&D and innovation management with many skilled specialists. Akkodis also keeps on performing R&D activities with the network of delivery Centers that realize tailored solutions in the field of IT, Engineering, Life Sciences, Automotive and Trasportation, Aerospace and Defense.

IRCCS Azienda Ospedaliero - Universitaria di Bologna

The IRCCS Azienda Ospedaliero - Universitaria di Bologna, Policlinico di Sant'Orsola is an integrated organisation within the Italian national, regional and local system for health and scientific research, with the main purpose of guaranteeing a response to health needs through the provision of highly specialised in-patient and out-patient services and the development of clinical and translational research projects aimed at improving the population's state of health.

07. PRE

Philips Electronics Nederland BV

Philips Research has several data & AI principles for creating robust and trustworthy digital solutions. Over the years, this research organisation has built knowledge and expertise in the areas of Responsible AI and Synthetic Data. The AEQUITAS project is an important and ambitious collaboration that aims to enable many companies and institutes to identify and mitigate (potential) biases.

08. LOBA

LOBA - Customer Experience Design

As consortium member of AEQUITAS, LOBA is the dissemination, communication and exploitation leader of the project. During its 3-year duration, LOBA will be in charge of developing the strategy for the AEQUITAS communication activities, creating the project visual identity, designing and producing the project communication materials (videos, brochures, infographics, factsheets, etc.), creating and managing the AEQUITAS splash page and website, creating and maintaining the project mailing list and disseminating periodic newsletters, as well as creating press releases and interacting with the media to promote the project and its findings.

09. ALLAI

Stitching ALLAI Nederland

ALLAI is an independent organisation that aims to foster, promote and achieve the responsible development, deployment, and use of AI. ALLAI’s mission is to take a holistic approach to AI, taking into account all impact domains such as economics, ethics, privacy, laws, safety, labour, education, etc. It focuses on AI sciences, social impact, national and international policy, legal implications, and ethical impact. ALLAI’s president, Catelijne Muller, has a strong legal background and is an expert on the legal implications of AI.

10. PRD

Period Think Tank

Period Think Tank is an Italian intersectional feminist civil society organization founded in December 2020 and based in Bologna and Rome. The aim of the organization is to promote gender equity by using a data feminist approach. The actions carried out by the organization are data collection, advocacy, policy making, education, training and communication.

11. WAI

Women in AI

Founded in 2016 in Paris, France, by Dr. Hanan Salam, Caroline Lair and Moojan Asghari, Women in AI (WAI) is a non-profit, community-driven initiative bringing awareness and knowledge through education, events, and blogging. What initially started with a small Facebook group has grown into a powerful community with more than 8 000 members (and counting) in 140 countries.

12. ECD

Eurocadres - Conseil des Cadres Europeens SASP

Our members are present in all branches of industry, public and private services and administrative departments, including national confederations and unions along with European trade union federations. As representatives of the fastest-growing category of workers in Europe, our advocacy activities focus heavily on issues such as AI, occupational health and safety, training and equality.

13. ITI

Instituto Tecnológico de Informática

The Instituto Tecnológico de Informática (ITI) is a Spanish Private Research & Technology Organization, a Competence Centre in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). ITI Research and Innovation activity is developed by a team of more than 250 technologists (researchers and technicians). ITI provides solutions to different domains: IT industry, Manufacturing (Industry 4.0), Society (Health 4.0, Tourism, Cities, Buildings), Transport, and Agriculture 4.0. All this activity confers ITI the possibility to give the following offer: Access to infrastructure and technology platforms and to specialist expertise on digitisation & applications, collaborative research for industry needs, best practices, training and education, showcase technologies in pilot factories, fab-labs, and support experimentation in real-life environments.

14. UPV

Universitat Politecnica de Valencia

As a dynamic, innovative, public institution, Universitat Politecnica de Valencia (UPV) is dedicated to research and teaching that keeps strong ties with the social environment in which its activities are performed and, simultaneously, has an important presence abroad. Today, over 39,000 members are integrated into its academic community: 35,000 are students, 2,387 are teachers, and 1,593 belong to the administration. UPV includes 15 faculty centres: ten schools, three faculties, two higher polytechnic schools (Alcoy and Gandia), and five associated institutions. UPV will contribute to AEQUITAS from the Software Engineering and Information Systems (ISSI) research group.

Universidad de la Laguna

University of La Laguna (ULL) is located in the Canaries. It has more than 200 years of history open to the world. With over 23,000 students, more than 1,800 lecturers and 800 ancillary staff, the ULL offers a wide catalogue of high quality degrees and research programmes ranging from all the humanities to the exact sciences. It is recognized under the sails of European Regional Campus of International Excellence (http://www.ceicanarias.com/en-gb) and the HRS4. Due to its privileged location, the ULL activities are developed in the frame of a unique network, with huge ties with LATAM, Africa, and other European Outermost Regions.

Asociacion para el Desarrollo Economico y Social Rayuela

The Association for Social and Economic Development is a Tenerife-based organisation dedicated to promoting a more sustainable model of social and economic development. With over 100 successfully implemented programs, Asociación Rayuela has demonstrated commitment to promoting collaboration among third-sector entities to address societal challenges, with a particular focus on promoting employment, social inclusion, and providing support to vulnerable groups. Their social inclusion programs focus on the inclusion of vulnerable groups and the protection of social rights.
